Who runs this site

CountdownClock.net is owned and operated by Zachnology, LLC, an independent software company based in Queen Creek, Arizona. We are not a media network, and the site is not part of a larger publisher group. Everything you see here — the timer engine, the sports pages, the holiday countdowns, the classroom tools — was designed, written and is maintained by us.

We have run the site continuously since 2022. Editorial decisions, the schedule data we publish, and every word of copy on the site are ours. You can reach us directly at support@zachnology.com or through our contact page, and our postal address is at the bottom of this page.

Why the site exists

We built CountdownClock.net because there was no simple way to send someone a countdown. Timer apps live on one device. Spreadsheet formulas go stale. Most countdown websites at the time either required an account, wrapped the clock in so much clutter that you could not read it across a room, or produced a link that broke the moment you shared it.

So the site was built around one rule: a countdown is a URL. Set a date and a name, and you get a link that anyone can open, on any device, with no sign-up, no app install and no account. That link renders a full-screen clock that keeps counting whether you have the tab open or not. It can be embedded in a page, put on a projector, or pasted into a group chat.

Everything else on the site grew out of that. People kept counting down to the same things — the next game, the next holiday, the end of a classroom activity — so we started building those countdowns ahead of time instead of making everyone construct them by hand.

Who it is for

Four groups make up most of who we build for, and each one shaped a different part of the site:

• Sports fans — people who want to know how long until their team plays again. Our NFL, college football, basketball and soccer pages carry a live countdown to each team’s next fixture, refreshed from published schedules.
• Teachers — the reason the classroom timer and the fixed-duration timers exist. They are high-contrast, readable from the back of a room, and open full-screen with a single click because nobody wants to fight a website in front of thirty students.
• People counting down to a date that matters — a wedding, a due date, a deployment, a holiday, a retirement. This is what the homepage form is for, and it is still the most-used part of the site.
• Site owners and organisers — anyone who needs a countdown inside their own page. Every countdown can be embedded as an iframe, so an event page can carry a live clock without anyone writing timer code.

How we source the dates we publish

Some of our pages count down to dates we did not choose — kickoff times, holidays, tournament fixtures. Where those dates come from matters, so we document it in full on a separate page rather than burying it here.

In short: sports fixtures come from ESPN’s publicly available schedule data, holidays and seasonal events are calculated from their defining rules rather than typed in year by year, and historical dates are curated by hand. Read the full explanation on our data sources page.

We are not affiliated with ESPN, or with any league, team or organisation whose events we publish countdowns for.

How the site is funded

CountdownClock.net is free to use, has no paid tier, and does not require an account. It is paid for by advertising and by direct sponsorship of individual pages.

That funding model comes with obligations we take seriously. Ads never cover the clock itself. We do not sell your personal information — we have never done so and will not start; that commitment is written into our privacy notice, not just stated here. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you grant consent through the banner, and you can change your mind at any time using the “Manage Cookie Preferences” link in the footer.

Sponsored placements are the only paid editorial on the site, and they are labelled where they appear. No sponsor has any say in which teams, holidays or events we build pages for.

Corrections and contact

If a countdown on this site is wrong — a kickoff time that moved, a holiday we calculated incorrectly, a fixture that never got updated — we want to hear about it. Schedule data changes after we publish it, and the fastest way for us to find out is for someone to tell us.
